In a world where employees often struggle to get even their genuine sick leaves approved– maybe be a bit more like this CEO– winning hearts for her rather rare approach towards a healthy work environment and an acceptable work-life balance. Or so is how the internet reacted, after the said woman’s LinkedIn post began to circulate online. Taking to her LinkedIn, the CEO- Dr Brigette Hyacinth- recalled how she granted ‘Work From Home for 2 months’- from ‘ANOTHER COUNTRY’- to one of her employees. Recalling her ‘1:1 meeting’ with the said employee, the CEO stated that she did not even ask for the reason, as it was the employee’s personal life.
Hyacinth then went on about how managers and organisations should focus more on the ‘work done’ rather than the ‘physical presence’ of the employees. The post went viral and was mostly appreciated. Many also lauded the CEO for being ‘understanding.’ Times Now could not confirm the details or the authenticity of the post.
Check out the viral post:
“I was in a 1:1 meeting with an employee who asked if she can work from another country for 2 months. I immediately approved it. She was shocked and asked- Don’t you want to know the reason why?” the post read.
“My reply was- You are not required to share your personal details. Just let me know what you need from me to be successful in your role. And I will show up for you. We are all adults. You choose how to get your work done. Come to the office fine. 9 to 5? Fine. Work from home. Fine. Leave early. Fine. Work from another country? Fine. It’s sad how we have infantilized the workplace so much, that employees feel the need to apologize for having personal lives. Measure results not physical presence,” added another.
The post was shared on LinkedIn, by the handle ‘Dr. Brigette Hyacinth’. The post was shared four days ago and pulled more than 15K views from people.
“The world needs more managers like you, like this!” a user said. “Awesome Dr. Brigette Hyacinth! It’s all about trusting your employees that they will get their work done even without any supervision,” added the next.
“This is such a refreshing approach to leadership. Trusting employees as adults and focusing on outcomes instead of controlling how or where they work builds real loyalty and engagement. When people don’t have to justify personal choices, they bring their best selves to work. Thanks for modeling what modern leadership should look like,” wrote the next.
“Well said! Exactly the kind of company I would want to be a part of!” commented the next user. “I would approve it immediately. I always say the output matters. I do not really mind even if you are working from another country for 6months or more as long as it doesn’t affect your productivity. We are good. Micromanagement is a waste of time,” added a fifth person.
