Mental Health Support: Air India launches Amaha App for employees and their families

In a step toward employee wellbeing, Air India has partnered with Amaha, a clinically backed mental health platform, to offer free and confidential services to all employees and their dependants, including therapy, psychiatry consults, and self-care tools.

The initiative, part of the airline’s broader Wellness.AI programme, is aimed at providing accessible, professional mental health support to staff working in high-stress operational roles.

As per the communcation sent to employees accessed by CNBC-TV18, the Amaha App offers over 600 expert-designed self-care techniques, tools for journaling, mood tracking, and goal setting. It also includes one-on-one therapy and psychiatry consultations as well as AI-powered chatbot support.

These services are available to Air India employees and up to three of their dependents, free of cost. The app is designed for flexible, on-demand use, allowing crew and staff to access resources and schedule sessions at their convenience.

Once registered on the app, employees can browse through qualified therapists, book therapy or psychiatry sessions, track their mental health progress and add family members to the plan.

This move comes nearly two months after the tragic crash of Air India flight AI171, which left a deep emotional impact on airline staff, especially flight crew. Pilots and cabin crew have since reported heightened stress, anxiety, and emotional fatigue. The family members of the crew have been equally affected after the accident, fearing for the safety of their loved ones.

As Air India continues to cope up from the aftermath of the tragic crash, the launch of the Amaha mental health app reflects a growing understanding that aviation safety is deeply connected to crew wellbeing.
