Salesforce layoffs: Company cuts more jobs across Agentforce, Mulesoft and Marketing Cloud teams

Salesforce has carried out another round of layoffs, affecting employees across multiple business units, including Mulesoft and Marketing Cloud, according to reports and regulatory filings.

Salesforce has implemented a fresh round of layoffs affecting employees across several teams, according to a report by Business Insider and a regulatory filing submitted in California. The latest workforce reduction comes months after the company cut fewer than 1,000 jobs earlier this year.

The report states that employees working on products such as Mulesoft, Marketing Cloud and some areas associated with Agentforce were impacted. However, a person familiar with the matter told Business Insider that the core Agentforce teams were not affected by the latest cuts.

California filing reveals 86 affected employees

A Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing in California shows that 86 Salesforce employees were affected in the state. The filing lists impacted roles across sales, general administration, technology and product functions.

According to the report, employees in Washington state and certain international locations were also affected, although the total number of layoffs outside California has not been disclosed.

The California filing notes that affected workers will remain on payroll until August 7. Salesforce’s internal severance policy, cited by Business Insider, reportedly provides severance based on an employee’s level and tenure, with benefits extending up to six months in some cases. Employees aged 60 and above may receive an additional four weeks of severance.

Focus remains on AI initiatives

The layoffs come as Salesforce continues to invest heavily in artificial intelligence. The company has been promoting Agentforce, its AI-focused platform designed to automate tasks and support enterprise customers.

Salesforce has faced growing competition and industry-wide discussions around how AI could reshape traditional software businesses, including customer relationship management (CRM) platforms. The company’s stock has declined by more than 30 percent this year.

Despite questions raised earlier about Agentforce adoption and performance, Salesforce recently reported that the product had crossed $1 billion in annualized revenue.

Salesforce workforce

Salesforce had more than 80,000 employees at the end of January, according to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The company has not officially commented on the latest round of job cuts, the report added.
