A student is facing a tough road ahead after being rejected twice for a UK student visa, raising concerns about the fairness and transparency of the credibility interview process used by British immigration authorities.
According to a post shared on Reddit, the applicant applied for a UK student visa on August 28, 2024, for the final year of study and attended a credibility interview on August 31. The questions asked included reasons for choosing the UK, financial preparedness, and comparisons with other countries. The applicant claims to have answered all questions in detail, even elaborating further when the interviewer repeated them.
However, the visa was refused on October 10, 2024. The refusal letter stated that the applicant failed to convincingly explain their course content, university choices, and reasons for choosing the UK—points the student insists were clearly covered during the interview.
“I thought the interviewer wanted me to add more, so I gave additional details instead of repeating myself,” the applicant said.
The second application, submitted on June 10, 2025, was rejected within a week without a fresh interview. This time, the refusal cited the previous interview as grounds, again declaring the applicant “not a genuine student.”
The repeated rejections have left the applicant seeking advice. “Is there any point in applying again, or should I consider other countries?” they asked online.
One user responded, “You might want to consider applying to study in countries like Australia or Canada. The UK can be quite tough, especially if you’ve already had two visa refusals. An Administrative Review (AR) is only helpful if there’s been an error in the application of immigration law or policy not just if the Entry Clearance Officer wasn’t satisfied with your intent.
It could also depend on whether you’re a younger applicant or a mature student, as that can influence the level of scrutiny. Either way, it might be worth consulting with a qualified immigration advisor before applying again to avoid further losses.”
