A Bengaluru software professional has gone viral after showing how he swapped the city’s infamous traffic and office routine for the misty hills of Chikkamagaluru. Leaving home at 4:30 am, he managed to reach the coffee town in time for work, proving that remote work can sometimes feel more like a getaway than a regular office day.
The man, identified as Ankit, documented his journey in a video shared on Instagram, where he showed how he combined work and travel without taking a day off. His unconventional approach quickly resonated with social media users, with many expressing a desire to do the same.
In the video, Ankit explained that spending every day in the office can become repetitive and uninspiring. Looking for a change of environment, he decided to spend the week working from Chikkamagaluru and invited viewers to join him virtually on the journey.
To make the plan work, Ankit and a friend, whom he referred to as “Sachiv ji,” scheduled their departure carefully. Since they had a stand-up meeting at noon, they chose to begin their trip at 4:30 am on a Friday, allowing them to avoid Bengaluru’s notorious traffic congestion and make the most of the day.
The pair travelled via NH 44 and later NH 75. According to Ankit, leaving before sunrise proved to be a smart decision, as the roads were relatively clear and the journey was significantly quicker than it would have been later in the day.
Their first stop came around 7:30 am at Dhruvathare, where they paused for breakfast before continuing towards Chikkamagaluru. Along the way, Ankit noted that the highway stretch between Bengaluru and Hassan was largely in good condition.
While a few diversions were present, the roads allowed for a smooth and comfortable drive for most of the route.
As they moved past Belur and transitioned from the national highway to a state highway, the scenery began to change. Surrounded by lush greenery and rolling landscapes, Ankit described the route as one of the most picturesque road trips one can take near Bengaluru.
The duo eventually reached their accommodation at around 11 am, leaving just enough time to settle in before work. Rather than treating the trip as a vacation, Ankit immediately switched into work mode.
He opened his laptop, checked messages, attended meetings and got back to coding, all while enjoying the peaceful surroundings of Chikkamagaluru’s coffee country.
The video quickly gained traction online, drawing admiration and curiosity from viewers.
One user asked, “where did you stay in Chikmagalur, I could not find place with good wifi for vdi to work,”
Another viewer praised the scenery, writing, “literally it’s very beautiful 😌🍃⛰️”
A third user seemed impressed by Ankit’s lifestyle choice and commented, “Maze bhai hi le raha hai,”
Meanwhile, another person suggested a food recommendation for future trips, saying, “You should have gone to swathi delicacy it is the best!!”
