Techie earns Rs 10 lakh monthly in Riyadh, owns multiple properties in India, still calls life 'boring'

A high salary, strong monthly savings and multiple properties in India would usually be seen as clear signs of success. But does financial stability automatically lead to satisfaction? That question is now being widely discussed online after a software engineer with a high income described his life as “boring”.

The conversation started when engineer Abhishek Singh shared details of a friend working in Riyadh for HungerStation, one of Saudi Arabia’s leading food delivery platforms.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Singh said his friend earns more than Rs 10 lakh every month. He also claimed that the engineer is able to save around Rs 8 lakh monthly after expenses. While the numbers drew attention, it was the personal reflection that made the story go viral.

According to Singh, his friend said his daily life had become repetitive and uninspiring. He described it as a cycle of “work, gym, sleep, repeat”.

The statement resonated with many readers who said it reflected a growing feeling among professionals focused on high-paying careers. It also sparked discussion on whether routine and lifestyle can outweigh financial comfort over time.

Singh also shared that his friend has been steadily building assets in India through real estate. “Already bought multiple properties in India, net worth is compounding quietly,” he wrote on X.

The engineer’s career journey also attracted attention. Singh shared a screenshot of his LinkedIn profile, which showed that he previously worked at InMobi in Bengaluru and Wise in London before moving to Riyadh.

As the post gained traction, users reacted with mixed opinions. One wrote, “After certain point , many things feels meaningless. When I said many things, material things and routine life style.”

Another questioned the financial and lifestyle claims, writing, “He seems to be overstating both the “boredom” and “expenses.” In reality, unless someone is single, sustaining a comfortable lifestyle in a city like Riyadh on Rs 2,00,000 can be quite challenging.”

Others focused on the success aspect of the story. One wrote, “Impressive compensation and journey too. While building wealth in India.”

Another added, “If he has only invested in Indian real estate, he has missed a great opportunity to multiply his wealth, which would have happened had he invested in both the Indian and US markets in a balanced manner.”
